Dear Tormentis Players,
Over the past few days, the focus has been on adjustments that significantly improve the player experience on the journey to level 50.
Update V0.8.5 also includes further controller and Steam Deck support, along with a rebranding that introduces a redesigned logo and new graphics.
Adjustments to Defense Costs
With help and feedback from new players, the player experience on the way to level 50 has been improved.
Previously, it was nearly impossible to keep castle defenses at the player's level. Defense improvement costs are now tiered to better match progression. Players up to roughly levels 25 to 30 can now upgrade their defenses to match their level more easily. After that point, resource management becomes more challenging.
The goal is to make progression feel more enjoyable without players feeling like they are falling behind.
Adjustments to Loot Amounts
The chance of receiving more loot has been revised.
Instead of relying only on odds that become less meaningful with many monsters in a castle, the chance of more loot is now defined by a maximum number of bags that can be looted.
This maximum can be increased by stars in campaign levels. In all other game modes, it is determined by the effective level of the active defense compared to the player's level.
The regular loot amount is 8 bags and can be doubled to 200%. Monsters can still drop loot as before.
Campaign levels now grant:
- 125% of maximum loot with one star
- 150% of maximum loot with two stars
- 200% of maximum loot with three stars
Loot Level Adjustment
Low-level monsters can occasionally appear even in high-level castles. When one of these monsters dropped a legendary item, it could feel frustrating and look like a bug.
The new calculation uses the player's level and the effective level of the castle being played as key metrics.
If the effective castle level is lower than the hero level, items can drop up to +15 levels.
- Example 1: Hero Level 50, Castle Level 10 = Loot Level 25
- Example 2: Hero Level 25, Castle Level 20 = Loot Level 25
If the hero level is lower than the effective castle level, items can drop up to +4 levels.
- Example 3: Hero Level 10, Castle Level 12 = Loot Level 10 frequently to Level 12 rarely
- Example 4: Hero Level 10, Castle Level 18 = Loot Level 10 frequently to Level 14 very rarely
Rebranding

Some graphics and logos will gradually be replaced with revised versions. As Tormentis gets closer to release, that progress should also become visible in the game's presentation.
Reforging UI Fixed
During the conversion toward controller and Steam Deck support, a small issue caused the reforging interface to malfunction. This has been fixed in this update.
Enjoy the new version!
